PACT 2025 – 2026 Residencies

EOI closes: 3pm AEST Friday 12 September 2025

APPLY HERE

Our PACT Artist Residencies provide valuable time, space, mentorship and financial investment for emerging artists/collectives to develop new work. Thanks to the support of PACT's donors, we are offering two residencies in 2025-26.

At PACT we believe in the value of a strong and interconnected artist community – our residency program is designed to support professional and new work development by helping you to bring a project in development to fruition, learn new professional and creative skills, develop relationships with mentors and peer artists, gain performance practise, and receive expert dramaturgical feedback on your work and practice.

We encourage applications from artists from diverse backgrounds and art disciplines.

First Nations artists and artists who have previously been mentored through PACT LAB: Play, Process, Experiment are highly encouraged to apply – you can apply to develop the project you explored in the lab or something new.

Who is it for?

Artists who:

  • are in their first ten years of practice as makers;

  • demonstrate an experimental approach to creative practice; and

  • are excited by the rigour of studio practice.

Projects that:

  • have a clearly articulated and compelling central idea;

  • outline a well considered residency plan; and

  • demonstrate how the support of PACT and our space will be of benefit.

Artists outside of the Sydney region

Artists outside of the Sydney region are welcome to apply. However, we do not offer a travel bursary, nor do we cover the costs associated with interstate, intercity or regional travel.

When is it?

The two residency periods available are:

27 October - 8 November 2025

13 April - 25 April 2026

Artists will have access to PACT's black box theatre from 10am-10pm everyday during the residency period. It is expected that you dedicate yourself full-time (equivalent) to the residency during the two weeks, and share your work through an industry showing or similar at the end of the residency.

What support is offered?

Each residency offers space, equipment, technical and producing support, mentorship and artist fees valued at $15,000.

PACT's producing team will work with each successful applicant to help structure and realise your residency. You will get help with budgeting and financial management, network connections, and producing. Together we will also identify an artist mentor to work with you one-on-one.

You will receive two weeks of space in PACT's black box theatre and access to PACT's equipment. Technical staff will be available to support your residency up to 15 hours per week during normal PACT business hours (10am-6pm Mon-Fri).

A budget of up to $5,000 is available for each 2-week residency for artist and mentor fees, documentation, and other production costs depending on the number of collaborators involved.
