Enough is a cripplingly funny, joy-injected musical interrogating the topicalisation of disability and the 'inherent' exceptionalism of disabled people by Bedelia Lowrenčev.
During the residency, Bedelia is working with collaborators Jeremy Lowrenčev, Jules Orcullo and Grayson Friend to develop the script and songs. The project is about cooking up dynamic, authentic and contemporary disabled representation in the Australian (musical) theatre scene; disabled characters written by, played by and for disabled community.
This project is about crip joy, re-centering disabled young people in their own stories and cutting out the malarkey of inspo porn. It’s about those well-known awkward teen years. Of crushing hard but on your occupational therapist. The project asks directly, what does it mean for a disabled teenager to be enough?
Enough holds up a mirror to our society – our assumptions on disability and the continued topicalising of disability in our storytelling spaces – exploring Inspiration Porn to make visible the tokenising barriers for disabled community.
Enough aims to explore the prejudices of identity and representation that disabled people face while structurally shifting access from an afterthought to an immediate and embedded creative process through the use of shadow interpreting, creative captioning, and Auslan Sign singing.
This residency is in memory of the late Fiona Winning, whose support for PACT and emerging artists made the residency possible in 2025.
