OUR STATEMENT ON THE 2023 Australian Indigenous Voice referendum

PACT Centre for Emerging Artists acknowledges that we gather and create on the unceded lands of the Gadigal.

We remember Gadigal ancestors who have danced, sung, painted and storied this place for more than 60,000 years; and recognise Gadigal people today who continue a sovereign relationship to Country.

We celebrate the many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists who have been part of the PACT community over decades, contributing to our vibrant, creative, multi-nation Australia. We celebrate PACT as a place with a history of fostering trans-First Nations solidarity and knowledge sharing.

We believe the Uluru Statement from the Heart is a generous invitation from First Peoples across Australia, to walk together for a better future for us all. The Uluru Statement requests us to take a first step by establishing a First Nations Voice enshrined in the Constitution, to support First Nations self-determination as we journey towards Makarrata.

The staff, board and artistic directorate of PACT joins in supporting the YES vote in the Voice referendum.

We encourage our community to learn about the upcoming referendum and listen with an open mind. You can find more information at voice.gov.au and ulurustatement.org.
