SOUND OUT THE STREET | APRIL

Bringing together the local community has always been at the crux of the Sound Out the Street program. Our March 31st Sound Out the Street event aims to take this mission to the next level; amplifying the voices of our locals and admiring the spaces within our neighbourhood. So, what have we got in store this time around?

Inspired by the global phenomenon of children’s climate strikes, artists Jason Phu and Kartika Suharto Martin will collaborate with students from Erskineville Public and St Mary’s Primary through a series of two-hour long workshops, culminating in a participatory procession and installation that explores kids’ relationships to the natural world.

Claudia Chidiac and sound artist Nick Wishart will capture kids’ imaginings of the local village in a sound installation broadcast in small spaces around the neighbourhood.

A group exhibition of local artists will create street posters out of their photographs and paintings, and installations that honour the creativity and storytelling that is held in Erskineville village. These artists include, Nadia Odlum, Liz Ham, Sam Doctor, Jake Simon (Worimi, Biripi), Casey Ayres, and Zan Wimberley.
