Season 1: On the Border of Things Part One
Tickets on sale for $15. Created and performed by James Nguyen and Cong Ai Nguyen
“This road trip is a chance to catch up with my Uncle Ai. When I was in primary school, he left to go fruit-picking. We haven’t really talked much since then. As adults, we are basically strangers and this project is an excuse to make up lost time, and just hang out as if he never left.”
‘On The Border of Things Part One’ is a bilingual performance installation exploring the movement of people, agriculture and the environment. Sydney-based interdisciplinary artist James Nguyen and his uncle Cong Ai Nguyen, an itinerant fruit picker, created this exciting new work. ‘On The Border of Things’ was developed during James’ 3 Year Vacant Room Residency and was co-commissioned by PACT and Next Wave.
Each night after the show PACT is presenting Summer Sounds, a chilled evening of beats and beer with a fantastic line up of DJs. The line up includes:
Wednesday 17th January: Jungle Funk Soundsystem - all vinyl session
Davy D and Craig Frazer from the Jungle Funk Soundsystem play back to back classic Funk, Afro, Dancehall and Disco.
Friday 19th January: DJ Kingy
DJ Kingy returns to the PACT stage with a tech house set that will get you up and dancing.
Saturday 20th January: DJ Frantik
Hip Hop master DJ Frantik brings his signature mix of dancefloor hits and smooth grooves to PACT.
Following the premiere of part one at PACT in January, part two will be presented on May 2018 at Next Wave Festival.
