Renowned artists Cloé Fournier and Dean Walsh are running two fantastic workshops in the lead up to AFTERFLOW: Generations.
Cloé will be sharing her approach to solo practice and the methodologies she applies when developing a new work. As a warm-up, she will propose a series of tasks she uses to get started and keep focused while alone in the studio. As a group of individuals, you will be looking at the architecture of the body in relation to time, space and context. You will be invited to consider the power of "perception" both from the performer's perspective and the audience's. Cloé will draw from the specific choreographic vocabulary she has developed during the development of Humanoid which focuses on an hybrid aesthetic morphing human and avian worlds.
Dean will lead participants through a series of phrases and improvisation modalities that convey specific meaning featured in his new solo, Threshold:NRC. After an hour warmup we'll work with movement modulations via structured improvisation and composition tasks that he uses to improvise during his performance. Adaptations and translations of these tasks will allow artists of all persuasions, disciplines and abilities to participate.
All participants of the Masterclass will be emailed a special discount code which can be used online to purchase $20 tickets to any performance in the season.
