Matt Cornell is an Australasian based artist working through dance, sound, photography, and discussion. Matt is interested in the individual as a product of their environment, currently questioning: the choreography of capital, cultural heritage vs identity, and the eternal dance concerns of time and place and space and our arbitrary and shifting position within it.
Matt believes in the power of non-spoken experience and the far reaching consequences of love.
He has composed sound for dance film, extreme sports, fine art installations and performance.
Matt was a 2012 Artist in Residence sampling the National Film and Sound Archive in Canberra, the 2011 Arts NT Young Achiever of the Year, a danceWEB scholar, a speaker at TEDx Darwin, a Legs On The Wall artist-in-residence for ‘OpenSource’, artist in residence at Dance4 (UK) and Critical Path, & an invited participant at the Ultima Vez Research Lab (BE).
