YOU.DANCE.
YOU.DANCE.
Just like we all do.
A toe tap at the train station, wild and free out on the town, swaying at the local pub or provocatively in your bedroom… there are many opportunities to move yourself about.
YOU.DANCE. will screen in a local pub and will feature four very different Erskineville residents dancing in costume to show how this ritual is commonplace no matter where or how you do it.
Drawing on the theme of Centre and Margins this piece will point to communal behaviours, like dance, that have become the threads that bind our communities together, and will perhaps even challenge the idea of the centre and the margin.
Designed to catch your eye while you’re having a drink & chat at the local, the video piece will be abstract and entertaining. Made up of a series of photographs of the community members making choreographed movements in elaborate costumes, it will depict the way we dress and behave when going out/celebrating. The performance of ritual in contemporary society.
